What a whirlwind of a week…

How far along? 34 weeks

Baby Size: About the size of a pineapple – 19-22 in, 4.9lbs 🙂

Total weight gain/loss: 34lbs

Stretch marks? No

Symptoms: So, after being pretty much dandy most of my pregnancy, I started to get pretty intense pelvic pains Sunday afternoon before week 34 officially started.  It started off as an ache, then continued to get worse.  On Monday, I went to work and the pain would constantly increase and decrease, and I was feeling a significant increase in Braxton-Hicks contractions.  I called the doctor and went in for a check.  Everything is fine – there’s no solid signs of early labor, but it was a little scary.  On the plus side, the doctor said that if I was in fact in labor, we would go ahead and have the baby.  This far along, baby can handle being in the outside world! (although I would much prefer him to stay put as long as healthily possible 🙂  I’ve been having consistent pain ever since with some days definitely worse than others.  As long as I can rest here and there (mostly by lying down to relieve the pressure), the pain is tolerable. The pain is most likely caused from him dropping and from an increase of the relaxin hormone that’s loosening up my joints preparing for labor! Yikes!

Sleep: Some days I wonder what sleep is.  Other days, I’m able to sleep with waking up only once or twice to use the restroom.  With the pelvic pain however, it is excruciating to turn from one side to the other.  Luckily the hubs is there to help me when I feel the need to rotate.  He’s the best!

Best moment this week:   Went to our first childbirth class this week and got to learn a “touch technique” that’s supposed to help me get through labor without too much tension in my body.  The teacher encouraged hubby to do this every night to mentally prepare myself, and although it hasn’t been EVERY night, it sure is nice to be pampered when it does happen…

Worst moment of the week: The pelvic pain.  The inability to rotate.  Having to do a lot less in order to feel mentally and physically sound.  It’s all coming down to the grand finale!

Miss Anything? Being able to walk without any pain!  I always thought pregnant women waddled because their bellies were big.  It might be the case for some, but I have to waddle to tolerate the pain..

Movement:  Lots and lots of kicks and stretches on my left side and hiccups on my lower right side.  Every now and then I feel a stretch extending to my ribs.  It’s pretty amazing!

Food cravings:  Let’s just say I came home the other day with cream cheese coffee cake and two boxes of hot chocolate.  I really need to stop with the sweets.

Anything making you queasy or sick:  No, but I really think my stomach has been squashed to a the size of a pancake now.  It doesn’t hold as much.

Labor Signs: Not besides what was mentioned above!  Tristan thinks our little one is going to make his debut before Christmas though!

Belly Button in or out? In-betweenie still!

Wedding rings on or off?  On… no swelling yet 🙂

Mood:  Mostly tired – not really because of the baby, but because of the pain.  Then again, it could also be because of the baby.  It takes more effort to move around now with the joints being loose (I reached for something the other day and my shoulder ached as if I almost popped it out) so I just get tired and feel an itch for a nap.

Looking forward to:  Maternity leave so I can get to nesting!!!
