Travel with At-Home (or On-the-go!) Teeth Whitening

This post is sponsored by Smile Brilliant.  All opinions are my own.

Ever since I became a mom, I really don’t tend to myself much.  Some may call it a selfless act – this motherhood thing – but to be really honest, there’s just no time for it.  Some days, there’s time, but there’s no energy for it.

Enter vacations.

There are 3 big things that make me love vacations

  1. Disconnecting from the day-to-day to focus on fun and family.  No laundry, no dishes, no making the bed!
  2. Reconnecting with my boys with brand new experiences together.
  3. A perfect reason for a little self care.  Time to pamper myself!

If you’re anything like me, you like to look and feel refreshed before you even go on vacation.  Is that strange?  It’s the only time of the year where I get my nails done by a professional!  For this trip, I even bought new lipstick, and I had plans to whiten my teeth.

“Nothing you wear is more important than your smile.”

This quote?  Believe it.  It’s important to take care of your smile because it’s the perfect symbol for warmth and a projection of friendship (quite handy when you’re traveling to a foreign country!).  I’ve been complimented with my smile a lot throughout the years, and I try to make a conscious effort to care for it.

Smile Brilliant approached me with an opportunity to try their whitening system, and I was a little hesitant because I’ve had painful sensitivity issues with some at-home whitening.  They assured me that their program was different, so I decided to give it a shot.

It’s also a simple process.  You get a kit to create custom molds for your whitening trays; after that, it’ll take a little less than a week to get your trays in the mail.  These trays are a huge win for the product, and I’ll mention why in a bit, but Smile Brilliant is essentially a 2-step process.  After cleaning your teeth, you apply the whitening gel to your trays then use it for about 30 minutes (or longer if you’d like!).  You’ll then brush your teeth, then apply the desensitizing solution to your trays and use it for 15 minutes or longer. That’s it!

Now, because we moved into our new home and had to deal with a lot of adjustments, I wasn’t able to use the product prior to our trip to Iceland because I didn’t have a chance to create and send out my custom molds.  Instead, by the time I could do them, my custom whitening trays arrived right before our trip.  I decided to bring it along with me because it’s THAT portable.  All you need to bring is your custom trays (which comes in this handy case) and the syringed solutions.

I’ve used this product every other day for one week in Iceland and one week at home.  I did start to feel some teeth sensitivity, but they advised using the desensitizing gel on my “off” days to help rehydrate my teeth.  It worked like a charm.  Not once did I feel any actual pain from the product like I did with other products.

My absolute favorite part though is the custom trays.  It made it so easy for me to do other things while I was whitening.  Sometimes with the at-home whitening strips, they’ll slip off or just won’t hold for one reason or another.  With these, I was able to do chores around the house, put my son to bed, and even take a shower!  They would never slip off and the solutions stayed right where they needed to.  This is a win for me as a mom because I don’t have to make a little self care a completely separate time (because who has the time??).  Instead, I could pop on the trays and continue with my list of things-to-do.

I may not have been able to get the whitening done prior to the trip, but I saw a difference pretty quickly while we were there.  It’s quick, efficient, and effective, and I’m glad I decided to try it out to learn that not all whitening products are created equal.  This was a great chance to sneak in a little extra self care without too much interference from the ever-so-busy daily life.

Here’s my before and after with just 6 sessions.  I’m pretty happy with the results!

Oh, and even though I didn’t get to do it all prior to vacation, do you know another great thing about whitening your teeth for a vacation?  Brighter smiles for all those vacation photos…

…Even if your child tries to run away from half of them!

Wanna try out this product for yourself? Good news! I’m also hosting a free giveaway so someone looking to whiten their smile at home can try it out!  [PROMOTION ENDED]

Good luck and keep on smiling!
