I recently shared a maternity session I did last year for some dear friends, and I was grateful that they invited me back a few months later to do a newborn session for their newest addition, Zadie.
This was only my second newborn session (after my own son’s), so I was still unsure of what to expect. Newborn photography really requires it’s own separate set of skills. Luckily for me, however, Zadie was the most calm and collected little newborn ever! I was anticipating the session to last at least 3 hours, but it ended up taking half of that time. My boy, however, was a totally different story (haha).
We did the session in the comfort of their home, and it was after this that I realized how much I loved the “lifestyle” approach to family photos. These photos capture moments that will forever live within that space; they can remember all of the little details of that point in time in their home for years to come. Studio portraits can also be beautiful, but I’m realizing more and more that it’s not “me.”
Anyway, here are some of my favorite shots from this session. Enjoy 🙂
