Last night, we had dinner for my mother-in-law’s birthday at Palm’s Thai. As my first time there, I have to say it was pretty delicious, and the ambience kind of made us forget that we were in Hollywood.
After dinner, we headed out for dessert at what used to be the Disney Soda Fountain. I loved that place. It looks like Ghirardelli has recently bought out or partnered with Disney as you can find a Ghirardelli spot at California Adventure. Alas, that also means the Disney Soda Fountain is no more and is now Ghirardelli. I was a little heartbroken to find that the Black & White Sundae was also not on the menu, but my husband decided we should try the Salted Caramel Sundae.
Disney Soda Fountain used to be one of our go-to spots in Hollywood when we were craving ice cream. The walls were covered with images from classic Disney movies while selling Disney memorabilia as a shop. The shop has definitely lost a good percent of that old Disney charm (although Disney merchandise is still sold), but the Salted Caramel Sundae has definitely made me a fan and renewed some of my faith in this location. The vanilla icecream is perfectly sweet, the fudge is perfectly proportioned, and the salted caramel — oh you can catch the sea salt bits on the tastebuds… and it’s quite a treat! Our selfie is pretty cute too… even though I caught hubby mid-blink.
Overall, a great outing and a great treat for the family. Disney Soda Fountain, I still miss you, but I’m glad that you were able to find a pretty good replacement. Everyone enjoyed their sundaes.
Happy birthday, mom!
