Pumpkin(less) Patching at Underwood Family Farms

We’ve been going to this pumpkin patch every year since we’ve had Dominic, and this trip was definitely the most unique.

He’s definitely more aware these days. It’s also his first year going to day care, so he’s been learning a lot about Halloween and trick-or-treating. He’s learned some new Halloween songs. It’s been great to see him be more knowledgeable about the holiday and upcoming festivities, but it seems he’s becoming more in tune with the feelings of fear as well. Halloween is spooky after all.

Well, we came here with the main purpose of letting him wander and pick out his own pumpkin to carve, but he had ZERO interest in it. He was scared. Didn’t even wanna look at the pumpkin patch! He said he didn’t like jack-o-lanterns 🙁 We went with the flow though. Instead, we had some other fun by checking out the farm animals, playing in the wooden train (his fave), and wandering through the corn maze. We made the best of it! We came back pumpkin-less and figured we could just buy cheaper ones at our local market, but I was a little bummed not to get the usual photo of him wandering in the pumpkin patch. Instead we got some shots near it (or as close as he would let us be). I’m sure he’s going to laugh at this when he reads it one day, and I’m sure it’ll be different next year. Every year is different! I guess that’s the fun part about these traditions. You really get to compare and see how their little selves change over the years. It seems to make things even more fun for us as parents to observe.

Some photos from our pumpkin-less family outing 🙂

His favorite thing was playing in this wooden train!

Silly boy.  He insisted on riding this train, but once it started, he lost interest lol.

The closest he let us go to the patch… so off to the corn maze we went!

Daddy supervising while I rested 🙂  We love going here on weekdays – much less crowded, and more space for him to run free!

Little boy. Giant machinery.

I have been seriously craving a paleta (so refreshing!), and I was so excited to see them sell some here in their market.  Dominic and I enjoyed the treat before heading home!
