Ok, I’ll start off by saying this is definitely not one of our family trips. This is a trip I planned for one of my best friend’s bachelorette party! Guess who’s the matron of honor? *raises hand* 🙂
My friend wanted a nice girls’ getaway; nothing too crazy, but definitely refreshing. Obviously, the usual road trip to Vegas was out of the question. I held an online poll with all of the girls invited, and Vancouver won! It was a GREAT getaway with a mixture of fun, a splash of nature, a hint of crazy, and a whole lot of laughter. Let’s get right to it…
Because we were arriving in 2 groups, we (the first group) went to search for lunch at Granville Island. This area is surrounded by small stores and restaurants located right by the water, but the biggest highlight is definitely the open market where you can find a wide variety of pretty much everything!
^ Luckily, we also got to see a bit of fall out here! So pretty
^ This was after we ate at a local restaurant, but we didn’t realize there was an entire area dedicated to hot and local foods inside the market. We wish we could’ve eaten here instead!
^ She gets very excited for berries.
Once everyone arrived, the second group took Denise away to go grab some groceries. We stayed at an Airbnb, so we made sure to take advantage by stocking our fridge with some basic foods, snacks, and drinks. While they were out, however, the rest of us did a little decorating to help bring on the festivities 🙂 Check out the view from our spot. It was PERFECT.
We all got ready, toasted to the night, then headed out for some festivities.
^ The public transportation system in this city is AWESOME.
We were going to start off the night with dinner, but because it was packed (and I didn’t make a reservation weeks in advance for Miku – oops), we killed some time by going to the Vancouver Lookout. Funny thing is, we believe our penthouse is taller than the Lookout, so it was almost pointless for us to go. Who would’ve known? Haha. We did get a better view out into the water though.
^ In the elevator!
After dinner, we found ourselves in some pretty steady rain. The original plan was to go barhopping in Gastown (which comes highly recommended as an urban/hip spot for barhopping!), but since we had all just traveled in and were a bit tired, we decided to head back and just have a relaxing night of wine and cheese (and goofiness). It honestly worked out perfectly because who wants to wander around all night in the rain??
^ These Raincoast Crisp crackers, this brillat savarin cheese, and those castelvetrano olives were AMAZING. We got it all at Granville!
^ Seriously, the view from our spot…
^ Cheers to girls night in!
There are fewer things more comforting after walking around in the chilly rain, than getting back to a warm place, changing into pajamas, and enjoying some delicious food and wine with good people.
Photos are a selection from all of the photos I received from the group.
