Hello December!: The DIY Burlap Wreath

Ah!  I’m due this month!  How time flies!  I still remember it being April when we first found out we were expecting.  It’s been such an awesome year, and now it’s just time to wait for the big finale!

I’m officially on maternity leave which is such a relief.  I’ve been using the holiday weekend to wash and clean all of the baby stuff we got and getting it all organized in his nursery.  I haven’t gotten to it all just yet, but I just hope I’m able to get everything done before he makes his debut.  I’ve also started packing our hospital bag.  It’s getting real, folks.

Anyhow, the day after Thanksgiving, I put up our first piece of Christmas decor — a wreath.  I’m still debating if I want to decorate the house and put up a tree considering we might not even be home for Christmas with the baby on the way, but the least I could do was put up a wreath.  I had plans to buy one, but my coworker bought a wreath frame for my baby shower to make me a diaper wreath.  Once I removed all of the diapers, I thought to myself “What if I made my own Christmas wreath with this frame?”  I searched how-to’s on Pinterest, and voila! My first homemade wreath.

My coworker was happy that I put the wire frame to good use too.  She was thinking I was just going to throw it out.  Luckily, I had leftover holiday ribbon as well as burlap from the baby shower.  I just had to get some details (ie the ornaments and leaves/berries) which I was able to find at IKEA.  Not bad, huh?  I’m thinking I might even change it each year too depending on my mood 🙂

Here is the tutorial I used that I found on Pinterest:
