Get Out and Vote, California

CALIFORNIANS!  There’s only a little more than 2 weeks left to register to vote if you haven’t already.  You must register by May 23 in order to vote in the primaries on June 6.

Remember, California has semi-closed primaries, so if you have no clue who to vote for yet, select “No Party Preference.”  To be clear, semi-closed primaries means that if you register as “Democrat” or “Republican” you will ONLY be able to vote for that party’s primary.

You can register online or at your local DMV.  Registering online is incredibly easy, and you don’t have to wait in line (woo!).

Things to keep in mind…

If you are active in the military or overseas, attending college out-of-state, or living abroad, visit the California registration site to find out details on how you can still get your vote in.

You are allowed to take time off at the beginning or end of your work shift to allow for sufficient time to vote with up to two hours of that time paid.

If you are 17, you CAN vote in California’s primaries if you will be 18 by November 8.

Still have questions? You can find more info and a number to call on the registration site:
Get out and vote.  It’s your duty to.  Despite what anyone may say, your vote matters.

Every citizen of this country should be guaranteed that their vote matters, that their vote is counted, and that in the voting booth, their vote has as much weight as that of any CEO, any member of Congress, or any President.
