Meet Baby Kaela! Her mom and dad are dear friends of ours, and I was more than happy to help them capture some of this newborn sweetness back in November of last year (which just made me realize she’s 4 months old already. what?!).
Baby Kaela’s newborn session is a bit unique from the few others I’ve done because it took place in my own home. I don’t have a studio (nor do I plan to have one), but the nice part about this is that I already knew where lighting would be ideal. It also encouraged me to keep things very simple and clean.
Our bedroom is on the second floor and half of a wall is just windows. It was this space where I took Dominic’s newborn photos on a whim (ha). It was a bit of an overcast day, but we were able to get spurts of sunlight throughout the time to make it work. I feel like these photos came out so sweet and tender (with little to no post-processing – just brightened them up a bit).
I’m going to put together a post later with some tips on taking newborn photos for yourself. To date, I’ve been lucky enough to photograph 4 beautiful newborns, and I feel like I’ve learned a thing or two that proved very much consistent with each session. Each session was also unique in itself with different outcomes which is interesting and exciting for me as I continue to learn and grow with my camera.
Sweet dreams 🙂
