Admiring Railway History At The Travel Town Museum

You know what the crazy thing about Los Angeles is?  You can live here all of your life and still find new things to do every day.  I didn’t hear about this place until a friend had her kid’s birthday party here, but although I couldn’t make it then, I knew I wanted to go at some point.    When it was clear that Dominic loved trains, I knew it was time to go!

Sitting close to the LA Zoo in Griffith Park, is the Travel Town Museum – a collection of old trains donated just for our viewing.  It’s really cool to say the least to be able to admire these pieces of history.  Dominic was having a ball walking along the real tracks and being able to touch and feel some of the trains and equipment.

There’s also a train ride that takes you around the museum which he LOVED.  Cost was $2.75 each when we went and leaves about every 15 minutes.

It wasn’t until we were about ready to leave that we noticed there was an indoor area with kids activities.  We would have continued to play here, but little man was clearly tired and cranky so we told ourselves we’d come again and play there next time (because there would definitely be a next time).  Good thing we decided on this because he passed out in the car before we even got on the freeway.  Proof he had so much fun.

I have to admit this was one of my favorite photos taken there.  It’s a bit of reality when it comes to taking family photos with a toddler haha

Making this train-lover’s dreams come true.

Oh, I do have to note that it’s also free to go!  If you’re ever wandering through Griffith Park, it’s worth it to swing by especially if you have some train loving kids 🙂

Thanks for sharing! Your family looks so sweet. I took my son as a toddler to a train museum in St. Louis when we were visiting my sister there, and I remember him absolutely loving it. It’s a perfect outing for boys that age.

My three year old would go nuts to see this. It’s a shame we don’t live closer. I’m going to need to look into local places that have trains!
